To many, comedy is a pure genre. According to them, a comedy movie is meant to make you laugh and forget about the world for about an hour or two, but we all know that art is inherently confrontational and that even innocent-seeming genres can serve as a commentary on the status quo. When a comedy is like this, it's often deemed satirical or subversive.
