2022’s George Clooney & Julia Roberts Rom-Com Is Taking Over Netflix

Years after its theatrical release, Ticket to Paradise is finding a new audience on Netflix. The romantic comedy, led by George Clooney and Julia Roberts, has emerged as one of the platform’s most-watched titles in the United States. It continues to attract viewers despite facing mixed reviews from critics when it first premiered in 2022.

Ticket to Paradise has emerged as a surprise success on Netflix. According to FlixPatrol, the 2022 romantic comedy ranked number 9 on Netflix’s Top 10 movies chart in the United States on June 18, 2026. The film placed ahead of Fast Charlie, continuing to attract viewers nearly four years after its theatrical release.

Directed by Ol Parker, Ticket to Paradise arrived in U.S. theaters on October 21, 2022. The film centers on David and Georgia Cotton, a divorced couple whose relationship remains strained nearly two decades after the collapse of their marriage.

Their fragile peace is disrupted when their daughter, Lily, travels to Bali after graduating from law school and announces plans to marry Gede, a local seaweed farmer she has only recently met. Convinced that Lily is rushing into a life-changing decision, the former spouses travel to Indonesia with the shared goal of stopping the wedding.

George Clooney stars as David Cotton, while Julia Roberts plays Georgia Cotton. The cast also includes Kaitlyn Dever as Lily, Maxime Bouttier as Gede May, Billie Lourd as Wren Butler, and Lucas Bravo as Paul. 

Upon release, Ticket to Paradise received a mixed response from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 57 percent critics score based on 226 reviews. Meanwhile, audience response was considerably stronger, with the film earning an 87 percent audience rating.

Jason Bailey of The Playlist wrote, “George and Julia spark and sparkle, which is what the trailers promise, and it’s what the movie delivers.”
