You've probably seen this premise before: a low-level operative in one of the three-letter agencies accidentally finds themselves in the middle of a conspiracy, and they're forced to put their best foot forward or risk death. It's the exact premise of two of Netflix's biggest spy thrillers, The Night Agent and The Recruit. In the former, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is drawn into a major conspiracy despite being at the bottom of the FBI's food chain. Meanwhile, in The Recruit, Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo) is a recent CIA hire who stumbles upon dangerous conspiracies that take him all over the world. The Night Agent is set to end with the upcoming season, while The Recruit was cancelled after two seasons.
