Ariana Grande's New Album Petal Is About 'Growing' From 'Challenges'

Ariana Grande has surprised us all with the news that she has a new album coming in a matter of months.

In the late 2010s, the Grammy winner became known for firing out one album a year, but while making 2024’s Eternal Sunshine, she slowed things down and took a four-year break before releasing studio albums.

Following her recent pivot to acting, many had assumed that it’d be a long time before we heard any new music from the No Tears Left To Cry singer.

However, after weeks of rumblings in the fan community about potential new material, Ariana announced on Tuesday afternoon that a new full-length album titled Petal would be released on 31 July.

Consisting of 12 new tracks, Petal’s Spotify page features quotes from Ariana saying that her new music is “full of life” and was inspired by “growing” in light of “cold and hard and challenging” life experiences.

Before the release of Petal, Ariana is due to embark on an upcoming world tour, off the back of her last album Eternal Sunshine.

The European leg of this tour will consist of just 10 nights at London’s O2 Arena, after which the Oscar nominee has claimed it could be some time before she goes on the road again.

While insisting she doesn’t want to say anything “definitive”, the Wicked star told Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast: “I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time. So I’m going to give it my all.

“I think that’s why I’m doing it, because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah. For now’.”

As well as new music, Ariana also has two big acting projects coming in 2026, the first of which will be a new season of American Horror Story in the autumn.

She’ll then appear alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the new Meet The Parents sequel Focker-In-Law.
