Ashley Cain: Into The Danger Zone Season 2 canceled by BBC
The BBC has decided not to move forward with Ashley Cain: Into The Danger Zone. This comes after old social media posts linked to presenter Ashley Cain came under scrutiny. The broadcaster confirmed that it will not air the documentary series’ second season and has “no plans” to work with Cain on future projects.
The decision follows a report published by The Guardian, which highlighted a number of posts allegedly made by Cain on X (formerly Twitter). According to the publication, the television presenter used derogatory language when referring to women in multiple messages posted over several years.
The report pointed to a number of posts dating back to 2014 and 2015 in which Cain allegedly used misogynistic and abusive language directed at women. In one instance, Cain allegedly told a woman to “s— a d—, and f— off.” The report also referenced additional messages in which women were allegedly referred to as “sl—,” “sl—,” “b—hes,” and “psychos.”
Following the publication of the allegations, the BBC issued a statement condemning the posts. “The posts by Ashley Cain, albeit from many years ago, are completely unacceptable. The spokesperson claimed, “The BBC has clear requirements around vetting and social media checks, which are undertaken by the production company. In this instance, the process clearly failed and we are investigating why.”
They concluded, “We have no plans to broadcast the new series of Into the Danger Zone, and no future projects with Ashley Cain.” The decision brings the future of the documentary to a halt, despite a second season having already been produced.
