Chris Pratt To Lead Unusual Buddy Comedy Series Funded by US Government

Chris Pratt has reportedly locked in his next television show. A new report suggests he will star in a new buddy comedy series funded by the US government. Consisting of multiple shorts, the America 250 series will see the actor display his passion for American history.

Chris Pratt will reportedly headline a series of America 250 comedy shorts. ATTN is the creative mind behind the show, with Emmy-winner Alex Gregory, known for his work on Veep and White House Plumbers, serving as a producer.

As per Variety, the Guardians of the Galaxy actor will co-star alongside presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin in the shorts. They will revolve around Pratt, who tries to share his passion for American history. However, he realizes that his knowledge is clearly limited and does not match his intense enthusiasm for the subject. Goodwin, who is also on board as an executive producer and editorial advisor, will keep track of the lessons.

Nicknamed a “‘Faster Class’ for U.S history,” the episodes will explore “defining constitutional [values]” via stories following important historical figures and events. The currently untitled series of shorts, a hybrid of animation and live-action, will combine Pratt’s signature humor and curiosity with Goodwin’s historical expertise and fact-checking while covering America’s foundational ideals.

The U.S. Department of State’s Office of Public Diplomacy and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is funding the project. Producers have designated the series of shorts as a “public diplomacy initiative intended to engage international audiences with America’s constitutional values and history through modern digital storytelling.”

Matthew Segal, ATTN’s co-founder and CEO, spoke about the series and Pratt and Goodwin’s involvement, saying, “At ATTN:, we’re always looking for new ways to make important topics accessible to broader audiences. America’s 250th anniversary presents a unique diplomacy opportunity to reintroduce the stories, principles, and people that shaped the nation.”
