Gamers are in for a massive year in 2026, with several big releases already out now and even more confirmed to be coming before the end of this year. One of the first projects to take over the world was Crimson Desert, the massively ambitious open world RPG developed by Pearl Abyss that sold millions of copies during its first few days being live. The next big game of the year came almost a full month ago with 007 First Light, the James Bond video game developed by IO Interactive. IO previously worked on the beloved Hitman franchise of games, and the studio kept that momentum going, as 007 First Light is being talked about as a potential Game of the Year candidate. Other contenders for big games later this year are Marvel’s Wolverine and GTA 6 — there’s also God of War: Laufey, which likely won’t come until early 2027.
