Stranger Things co-stars David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown will reunite for a Netflix spy series. It doesn’t have a name yet, but the streamer has said that the show will be made with Adolescence creator Jack Thorne.
“Disgraced FBI agent-turned-security expert Matt Wolfe (Harbour) is drawn back into the world he left behind when his estranged daughter, Rebecca (Brown) – now an FBI agent determined to follow in his footsteps – vanishes on a mission, forcing him to return to a field that has evolved beyond him,” the show’s synopsis reads.
The A24 drama will be co-executive produced by Millie’s husband, Jake Bongiovi, among others for PCMA Productions. Bravo Axolotl will also produce the show.
Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of scripted series for US and Canada, said: “We are delighted to bring this spy drama to life with an extraordinary group of talent we’ve been fortunate to collaborate with before.
“Jack Thorne’s ability to find the deeply human story inside a thriller is unmatched, and watching Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite – this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of a crisis – is something audiences are going to love. A24 is the perfect partner to bring this story to our members around the world.”
Last year, the Daily Mail published a report which alleged Millie filed a bullying and harassment claim against David between seasons four and five of Stranger Things. They stated there were “pages” of complaints but stressed none of them were sexual in nature.
Both actors have since spoken positively about their relationship.
Speaking to Empire Magazine recently, Millie said: “David and I connected on another level... always looked out for me, and I always annoyed him like a daughter or a younger sister”.
She previously spoke about their “great relationship”.
Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour And speaking to Variety in June, David called rumours of their apparent disagreement “a weird thing” that “came out in a weird way”.
“It’s a show that went on for 10 years. We worked together for 10 years during her formative teenage years, playing father and daughter. I don’t know if people have families and friends that you spend a lot of time with for 10 years — you occasionally get in arguments, disagreements,” he continued.
“In families, it’s OK because you’re just in a disagreement and then you come back together. The problem with a billion-dollar show is that there’s just hundreds of people who want to get involved.”
