A special episode of Disney‘s 36-year-old series is coming soon as part of Disney+‘s catalogue for next month, which includes many anticipated releases. Notably, the show’s latest season began airing on Fox in September 2025.
The Simpsons: Simpsley special episode to stream on Disney+ next month
The Simpsons: Simpsley will start streaming exclusively on Disney+ on July 3, as per the platform’s official monthly press release. Also slated for that day is Disney Celebrates America (ABC News Live), a 24-hour news program.
The story follows Marge Bouvier, a penniless con-artist who travels to Italy to convince the wealthy Seymour Skinner to return home. However, his wealthy lifestyle and its trappings prove very alluring for Bouvier, who finds herself tempted. Unfortunately, she also crosses paths with Homer Simpsley, Skinner’s clingy and dim-witted houseguest.
Simpsley is the second in the show’s schedule of exclusive releases planned for the streamer. It is preceded by Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition, which arrived on June 17. In the episode, Homer and Marge Simpson go on a date night with the former’s friends and their respective dates. Before leaving, they entrust their kids to babysitter Shauna.
However, the latter ends up overdosing on painkillers after injuring her leg. Consequently, Homer has the doorbell camera watch over them.
Unfortunately, Marge grows increasingly frustrated with her husband over the course of the date night. Slowly becoming drunk, she fantasizes Homer as different types of people, such as a fighter pilot, a tired ad executive, and a clown-themed supervillain.
Betty Gilpin guest stars as Amy, while Jon Hamm, Laufey, Tegan and Sara appear as themselves.
Simpsley will be followed by Yellow Mirror, which premieres August 26. This is a parody of Black Mirror that will see the family deal with technology. The official synopsis reads, “A defective lamp reveals a heartbreaking truth about what Homer believes is reality, and an AI-powered tablet befriends and controls Maggie. The Simpsons struggle to find the light through two dark tales of the curious and bizarre” (via Variety).
