The Euphoria season 3 finale just broke the internet with its most devastating episode ever. The HBO drama killed four major characters in “In God We Trust,” delivering the show’s most brutal hour yet.

HBO’s Euphoria has ended with so many deaths

The Euphoria season 3 finale, “In God We Trust,” killed four major characters in brutal fashion. Laurie (Martha Kelly) died by suicide during a DEA raid on her compound. Rue (Zendaya) died from fentanyl-laced Percocet pills gifted by crime lord Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje).

The deaths came one week after Jacob Elordi’s Nate died from a rattlesnake bite. Alamo and G (Marshawn Lynch) also died in the finale’s closing sequence. Ali (Colman Domingo) stormed Alamo’s strip club and shot G with a shotgun. Alamo’s right-hand man Bishop (Darrell Britt-Gibson) secretly removed bullets from Alamo’s pistol. Ali then shot Alamo multiple times, ending the antagonist for good.

Rue’s death unfolded after Maddy (Alexa Demie) accidentally exposed her work with the DEA. Alamo then gave Rue fentanyl-laced Percocet as she recovered from injuries. Rue traveled to Ali’s apartment and died on his couch overnight. Ali discovered her body the next morning and delivered a passionate speech about fentanyl deaths.

“I’m tired of losing people,” Ali said. “Only thing I know for certain is that there’s a right and a wrong in this world, no in between.”

The finale also paid tribute to late actor Angus Cloud, who died in 2023. A news report within the episode revealed his character Fezco escaped from prison. Rue attempted to find Fezco before her fatal overdose.

HBO confirmed Euphoria has officially ended with season 3. Creator Sam Levinson announced the decision on the New York Times’ Popcast, confirming there will be no season 4. The show already faced a nearly four-year gap between seasons 2 and 3. With five major characters dead across the final two episodes, including its biggest star Zendaya, a continuation was nearly impossible regardless.

Euphoria is now streaming all three seasons on HBO Max.
