Euphoria’s Season 3 finale delivers a devastating death that changes everything for the show’s remaining characters. The HBO drama’s final episode explores how one major loss sends shockwaves through every relationship in the series.
Zendaya’s Rue dies in Euphoria Season 3 finale
Zendaya’s Rue Bennett dies in the Season 3 finale of Euphoria, titled “In God We Trust.”
The episode, now streaming on HBO Max, brings the show’s central character to a tragic end before its midpoint. Ali, played by Colman Domingo, discovers Rue’s body and finds fentanyl-laced pills nearby.
Rue escapes Laurie’s compound after Faye’s betrayal in Episode 7. Marshawn Lynch’s character G kills her assailant and drives her away. Alamo then praises Rue as “employee of the year” and gives her percocet for her injuries. He tells her, “That’s for the physical pain. Not that shit up in your head.” Rue later enters a manic state after learning Fezco broke out of prison. She rushes to her house and sees her estranged mother Leslie reaching out. The moment tragically reveals itself as the vision of a dying woman.
Ali later tells a group meeting he picked up a drink while mourning Rue. He says the program no longer serves him and decides to leave. He tells the group, “I’m going to find another way to be of better service.” Ali then confronts Alamo at his club carrying a sawed-off shotgun. Alamo uses Maddy as a human shield and sets terms for a duel. He breaks his own rules and draws early, but his gun is unloaded. Ali shoots him dead, and the club’s dancers slowly file out.
Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, makes peace with Nate’s death but avoids sharing details. She tells her sister Lexi, “I don’t like to think about it.” She plans to convert Nate’s mansion into a hype house for OnlyFans models. Jules, played by Hunter Schafer, paints a portrait of Rue in a brief sequence.
The episode closes with Ali visiting a farmhouse Rue encountered earlier in the season. He tells the family, “My daughter stayed here a while back.” Rue appears briefly, smiling, and says in voiceover, “May God bless us all.”
All three seasons of Euphoria are currently streaming on HBO Max.
