Maria Connor’s (Samia Longchambon) suspicions are raised in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, leaving her convinced that Gary Windass (Mikey Windass) and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) are having an affair.
Gary and Sarah, as viewers know, go way back, with the pair having dated previously.
The former flames’ shared history has always to some degree bothered Maria, who is left rattled by their sudden and reignited bond, leading her to believe that they’re seeing each other behind her back.
It’s true that Gary and Sarah have suddenly been in each other’s orbit – and it’s all dates back to the night of Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) murder.
Though the identity of killer remains under wraps, Gary sent the abuser a threatening text message on the eve of his death and has since become prime suspect with DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who is dating Sarah.
What exactly it is that Sarah and Gary are up to remains to be seen but the two have been having private chats as of late and are seemingly harbouring a secret.
Maria, much like the viewers, reckons this is proof of an affair.
A video clip for next week’s episodes see the hairdresser confide her suspicions in Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston). She’s caught Gary out on something, which he claims was the booking of a holiday for her and the kids.
But despite Gary having actually booked said holiday, Maria shares her theory that he’s only done so because of a guilty conscience.
Recalling crossing paths with Sarah earlier in the day, she speculates that Sarah’s ‘super weird’ behaviour during the meeting in question is further proof of her theory.
‘[Sarah] was being over friendly with me and super weird with Gary,’ she says. Something is going on, Izzy. And I’m going to prove it!’.
The question is: is Maria’s theory correct? Is Gary cheating on her with Sarah?
Coronation Street airs Mondays to Fridays at 8:30pm on ITV1 or stream episodes first from 7am on ITVX and YouTube.
