General Hospital has recently added a South African Australian actor to its roster. He appears to be present during the soap’s 16,000th episode celebration. While this marks the actor’s daytime debut, he has been familiar with soap operas, having starred in the Australian show Neighbours.

General Hospital adds Dean Geyer to cast as Tristan Roberts

TV Insider confirmed that Dean Geyer has joined as Tristan Roberts in a contractual role in General Hospital. He began tapping on June 1. It’s the same day that the whole cast and crew celebrated the show’s 16000th episode, a video of which has been posted on Instagram. GH shared a video of all the members present, gathered around the cake, to pay tribute to the show’s big milestone.

The caption read, “There’s nothing like celebrating a milestone with family, friends, and cake to cure a case of the Mondays. 63 years and 16,000 episodes later, we’re still going strong thanks to all of you! Thank you so much for watching.” At the time of writing, no additional details about his character or airtime have been announced.

Geyers made his TV debut in Australian Idol Season 4, finishing in 3rd place. He got his breakthrough role in Neighbours but parted ways with the show after 120 episodes. The reason he cited for his departure was that he wanted to pursue a music career. Following this, he did appear in a recurring capacity in popular shows like Terra Nova and Glee. Most recently, he appeared as Zane Williams in the 911 series.

In films, he has done Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown, Landmine Goes Click, The Sand, and Zoey 102, among others. Apart from his acting career, he also dropped a music album named Rush in 2007. Moreover, he has also released some non-album singles, which include “The Pretender” and “Runaway.”
