General Hospital Star Breaks Down Britt’s Desperate Plan for Leaving

General Hospital’s Kelly Thiebaud revealed why Britt wants to leave Port Charles so desperately. She is well aware that Cullum is getting closer to uncovering the truth about who really shot him. 

Britt fears that someone she cares about could face serious consequences, and she decides to leave to distract Cullum. However, this choice carries a greater cost, as leaving means going without her Huntington’s disease medication that Cullum supplies, which could worsen her condition.

In a conversation with Soap Opera Digest, Thiebaud opened up on how Britt leaving Port Charles would distract Cullum from closing in on Rocco. Explaining how Cullum is near to finding out the identity of his shooter, she said, “It just feels to her like everything is closing in on her. Cullum is getting too close to figuring out it’s Rocco, and if anything happened to Rocco, I definitely think she would blame herself. She would totally feel like it’s her fault.”

Thiebaud said that Britt fears everyone will hold her responsible for the incident. While she knows some of the hate is warranted, she notes that people never give her character the benefit of the doubt. They struggle to understand her.

Despite it all, she added that Britt’s care for Rocco is genuine. She wants to protect him at all costs. She believes leaving town could throw Cullum off Rocco’s scent. However, this decision carries a heavy price. Going off the medication Cullum supplies could worsen her Huntington’s disease.

“I think at this point, she is just like, ‘You know what? This isn’t worth it anymore, I’m just going to die of Huntington’s.’ It’s not in a ‘woe is me’ type of way, I just think she’s feeling really helpless and really alone. She does have people that she loves, but I don’t think she really feels like she has anyone in town that she can count on. So it’s easy to feel like, ‘It’s better for me to just go away because I’m the problem here,'” Thiebaud said.
