HBO has released plenty of popular shows in the last few years, but few have risen to the same levels of popularity as The Last of Us, which is based on the pair of award-winning video games developed by Naughty Dog. The first season of The Last of Us aired back in 2023, and the show went on hiatus for two years before returning for Season 2 in 2023. Production on The Last of Us Season 3 recently came to a scheduled halt due to the World Cup, but all signs point to the show still having no trouble returning in 2027. The show was written and created for TV by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, and after Druckmann departed the series to work on Naughty Dog's next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Mazin is now tasked with bringing the show to the finish line for its third and final season.
