Is there a more important Gothic horror story than Frankenstein? Probably not, and for long-time fans of the Mary Shelley classic, 2004 was one of the better years to be obsessed with the mad doctor and his monstrous creation. Aside from their appearance in the Hugh Jackman-led Van Helsing that spring, October 2004 saw not one but two different Frankenstein adaptations on the small screen. But while the USA Network's made-for-TV feature was undoubtedly the most novel of the two (departing considerably from the source material), it was Hallmark's two-part miniseries, simply titled Frankenstein, that has proven to be one of the most faithful adaptations of the novel put to screen. If you haven't given this underrated sci-fi gem a chance before, the fact that it's currently free on streaming makes now the perfect time to tune in.
