House of the Dragon Footage Reveals Fierce Dragon Action & Trailer Release Date

House of the Dragon just dropped new footage that has fans losing their minds ahead of a major Season 3 reveal. The show’s official account teased fiery dragon action and confirmed when viewers can expect the final trailer.

New House of the Dragon footage released ahead of tomorrow’s trailer

The official House of the Dragon account on X (formerly Twitter) shared new footage from Season 3 on May 28. The post featured the caption, “Fire comes for all. Final Trailer tomorrow. #HOTD.” The teaser arrives just weeks before the season’s premiere on HBO in June.

Season 3 will consist of eight episodes airing weekly through August 9. Ryan Condal serves as the showrunner for the new season. Clare Kilner, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Andrij Parekh, and Loni Peristere are likely to helm the eight episodes.

The upcoming season features several new cast additions alongside returning favorites. James Norton joins as Lord Ormund Hightower, while Tommy Flanagan plays Lord Roderick Dustin. Dan Fogler also boards the series as Ser Torrhen Manderly. Tom Cullen, Joplin Sibtain, and Barry Sloane portray Ser Luthor Largent, Ser Jon Roxton, and Ser Adrian Redfort. Annie Shapero rounds out the new additions as Alysanne Blackwood.

Returning cast members include Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and Rhys Ifans. Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Phia Saban are also expected to reprise their roles. Freddie Fox, Gayle Rankin, and Kieran Bew reportedly return as well after joining in Season 2.

Filming for Season 3 began in March 2025 at Leavesden Studios in Watford. Production wrapped by October 2025. HBO renewed the series for a fourth season in November 2025. The season covers George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel’s events.

HBO previously released an official teaser in February 2026 ahead of this final trailer. Season 3 premieres on June 21 on HBO and streams on HBO Max.
