James and Ste plot to flee Hollyoaks as truth of Rex’s murder unravels

Suspicions mount in the hunt for clues following Rex Gallagher’s (Jonny Labey) murder in Hollyoaks – while Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) plan to go away together.

Rex was shot dead earlier this month by an unknown assailant while tending to a job at the garage in the middle in the night.

At the time of his demise, the mechanic had just rekindled his romance with Ste, who had struggled to come to terms with his husband experimenting with feminine clothing.

The news of Rex’s death staggered Ste and the shocks just keep coming when ex James – thought by much of the village to be dead – stages yet another return.

The timing of James’ comeback leaves a number of people suspicious, namely Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter), who made her feelings on James known on several occasions before.

It doesn’t take long for sparks to fly for James and Ste, which further fuels Leela’s suspicions as she begins to wonder if the couple had some sort of involvement in Rex’s death.

Leah Barnes (Charlotte Alex Riley), meanwhile, makes Leela aware of the fact that she supports James and Ste’s rekindled romance.

But just how will Leela take the news?

That remains to be seen. And as for Ste and James themselves, they waste little time in moving on as they prepare to go away together. But before their potential departure, James decides to surprise Ste – with a trip to the graveyard.

And they say romance is dead.

James and Ste visit the ‘James Nightingale’ headstone as they plan to bury the past for good. But just what does such a thing entail?

We’ll just have to wait and see but as the week concludes, the grief finally hits Ste.
