Since opening in 2024, Jeremy Clarkson’s pub has had several strict rules in place.

The former Top Gear presenter only allows products ‘grown and reared’ in Britain to be stocked and sold in The Farmer’s Dog in Asthall, Oxfordshire.

As such, items like coffee, Coca-Cola and Heinz ketchup are banned, and there have been restrictions on the alcohol offered behind the bar.

The 66-year-old’s Hawkstone beer has long been available, as well as Hedgerow Cider, and Diddly Squat Farm Bee Juice Whisky, but for the last two years, there had been no wine on the menu, as Jeremy didn’t think English wine was very good.

However, that’s all about to change, much to the delight of wine-loving punters visiting his Cotswolds tavern.

The Farmer’s Dog has just unveiled its own wine range, known as Knollbury Fort.

The brand is said to have been created ‘to champion British farming and modern English winemaking.’

A statement from the pub added: ‘There was a time when English wine was like a child’s recorder playing; you wanted to like it, but it wasn’t very good. Fortunately, that time has gone.’

Launched over the bank holiday weekend at The Great British Farm-Fest, there are three new wines for Clarkson’s Farm fans to try.

First is a Firelight Pinot Noir, which uses grapes from Essex, next there’s a Midsummer Rosé, with grapes from Kent, and finally Arrowhead White, which features a blend of grapes grown in Kent, Essex and Suffolk.

Elizabeth Palmby broke her ribs and had to have surgery after tripping and slicing open her hand on ?razor sharp? temporary metal covers. Surgeons later had to operate to remove metal fragments from the carpark that were left inside her hand. Now she has been left with a ?horrible? jagged scar as a permanent reminder of when what was supposed to be a 'fun' trip to the pub turned into a nightmare. The pub has been made famous around the world after featuring on Jeremy Clarkson's smash hit Amazon Prime series Clarkson's Farm which follows his exploits as he runs a farm and pub in the Cotswolds.

The Firelight Pinot Noir is the most expensive of the trio, setting you back £28.95 for a bottle.

The Midsummer Rosé is priced at £22.95, while the cheapest is the Arrowhead White for £21.95. A case containing all three bottles is £69.

All three bottles are available to buy in the pub, at the Diddly Squat farm shop and online as single bottles or cases of six.

The dispute comes as the latest in a series of confrontations with the West Oxfordshire District Council since Clarkson took over the farm in 2019, this time they are asking him to scale back the planting and he has forwarded a revised planting scheme for approval. Meanwhile the shop is temporarily closed over the winter months, except for the milk machine and online orders, and will reopen on March 1st. Wine production in the UK has grown significantly in recent years, with the Food Standards Agency reporting in 2025 that English and Welsh wine production had risen by 55% compared to 2024.

Figures showed 124,377 hectolitres of wine — equivalent to over 16.5 million bottles — were produced across the UK in 2025, and the UK wine industry is now valued at approximately £14 billion.

Clarkson’s pub isn’t the first to serve its own-brand wine, with other places such as The Charles Lamb pub in Islington offering their own label.

Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm has featured the pub, which has received mixed reviews online.

Some have criticised the high prices, branding them ‘extortionate’, while others aren’t keen on the ‘massive queues’.

On TikTok, @henrysouthan noted that ‘it’s like arriving at Glastonbury’ and had to park in a field, despite having a reservation. He then went on to critique the ‘very dry’ food.

And @h0neybadg3rrr agreed, saying: ‘It’s a weird vibe in there. Food is mid.’

While @Lucygx83 said simply: ‘I’ll stick to Toby Carvery’.

But not everyone shared this sentiment, with @idv94 sharing: ‘The pub is SO pretty.’

And @too.far.toby said: ‘Me and the family took a trip and I can confirm it is a great experience. This pub only uses British ingredients, and as a result, the food is amazing. There is also lots of merch and farm products in the shop. It can get busy, but it is worth a visit!’
