New Alien: Earth Season 2 Update Reveals When Filming Begins

Filming for Season 2 of Alien: Earth will begin in London soon. The update ends weeks of speculation about the production timeline, which had slipped past an earlier May start date.

The FX series, created by Noah Hawley and backed by Ridley Scott, has become one of the streamer’s most closely watched projects. Season 2 was confirmed some time ago, but concrete details about when cameras would roll remained scarce until now.

Adarsh Gourav shares Alien-Earth Season 2 filming update

Speaking to CineBuster, actor Adarsh Gourav confirmed he will travel to London in the first week of June, with filming set to commence shortly after. The actor, who plays a character named Slightly, described the production as ready to move forward after what appears to have been a quiet pre-production period.

“I’ll be leaving for the international schedule in the first week of June, and we begin filming shortly after,” Gourav stated. He added that the cast and crew are approaching Alien: Earth Season 2 with considerable ambition. “There’s a huge sense of anticipation around this season where the storytelling becomes even more ambitious.”

The update follows comments made earlier this year by Sydney Chandler, who leads the series as Wendy. Chandler told Deadline during a Texas Film Awards press event that production would begin in May. It seems that timeline did not materialize. She also noted at the time that she had not yet seen any scripts, suggesting the writing process was still underway.

Gourav expressed particular enthusiasm about returning to the ensemble. “Working with actors like Peter Dinklage, Timothy Olyphant, and the entire ensemble pushes you creatively every single day,” he said. FX has not yet issued an official cast list for Alien: Earth Season 2. However, those who survived the first are expected to return.

Furthermore, the decision to film in London is a geographic shift for the series. The first season was shot in Thailand. Season 2 will now be based at Pinewood Studios, a facility with roots in the Alien franchise.

There is no release date for Alien: Earth Season 2 at the time of publication. With filming beginning imminently, a premiere is unlikely before mid-to-late 2027.
