The Atlus Persona 4 Revival Broadcast aired and featured gameplay footage highlighting characters and combat while the new Shiori Sasaki music played in the background. It noted there will be some elements designed to streamline the combat system and make it less stressful, such as a Prime Time ability to negate skill costs. However, we did not get to see what Tohru Adachi will look like just yet.

The presentation began with a reminder of how the story goes. Yu Narukami, the protagonist, heads to Inaba to stay with his Uncle Ryotaro Dojima and cousin Nanako. After attending school and meeting classmates Yosuke Hanamura, Chie Satonaka, and Yukiko Amagi, they hear about a tragic death in the area. It’s then that Yu, Yosuke, and Chie end up being able to head inside another world inside a TV at Junes Department Store. Shortly after, Yukiko disappears and a show on the Midnight Channel suggests she’s inside that TV world. This leads to the development of an Investigation Team to discover what’s going on. These story elements will feature rerecorded voices with new actors in both languages, and all events will feature voice acting this time around.

From there, the focus tended to be on combat and gameplay changes and what characters will be capable of in battle in Persona 4 Revival. There are a number of new additions. For example, when roaming a dungeon, typically we could strike a Shadow first or be hit by them. If we miss the chance to attack, we can now Guard to stun them and still gain the advantage when combat starts. The Baton Pass mechanic from past games, which lets us swap to another character if we earn 1 More hit from targeting a weakness, will be present. In a fight, we’ll now be able to Send Flying an enemy with an ailment to spread it to other foes, kick off Prime Time to get extra turns and negate skill costs and resistances, and go for a Series Finale in Prime Time to deal more damage.
