Rick and Morty Season 10, 11 & 12 Get Surprising Release Date Update

Rick and Morty will run for at least three more seasons per its showrunner’s plans. The series recently debuted its ninth season and a movie adaptation is also confirmed.

What did the Rick and Morty showrunner say about future seasons?

Speaking to ScreenRant, Scott Marder, the showrunner on Rick and Morty, revealed that development on the show has gone “as deep as season 12”. That’s not all, as Marder revealed that “there’s just plans for all sorts of things moving down the pipe.”

Rick and Morty premiered in 2013, with roughly two-year gaps between seasons. The show found a more consistent stride between Seasons 5 and 7, and the latest season is arriving the year after its previous season. Marder’s comments about future seasons suggest a tighter release schedule going forward, which means fans won’t have to wait as long between seasons.

It remains unclear whether the untitled Rick and Morty movie will tie into these upcoming seasons in any way. A previous rumor, now confirmed via Deadline, points to series veteran Jacob Hair in talks to direct the film. At the time of writing, it has yet to be confirmed whether the movie will receive a theatrical release or head straight to streaming.

Rick and Morty stars Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer, and is executive produced by Dan Harmon and Scott Marder. Besides more seasons and a movie, Rick and Morty is also officially getting a spin-off focused on President Curtis.

The franchise currently includes nine seasons of a show, various comic books, and the new spin-off. Keith David will continue to voice President Curtis in the spin-off show, which is due to release later this year.

Rick and Morty Season 9 will begin streaming weekly on Hulu and HBO Max on June 15, 2026. The new season received some of the strongest reviews in the franchise’s history.
