There may not be a comic book movie with as much anticipation behind it as The Batman Part II. The film will be a direct sequel to the 2022 Batman film starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves, which is still hailed as one of the greatest comic book movies of all time. The Batman was a smash hit by every metric, grossing over $770 million at the box office and earning scores of 85% from critics and 87% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. This made Warner Bros’ decision to greenlight a sequel an easy one, but once James Gunn took over as the head of creative at DC, it caused a few bumps in the road when it came to getting The Batman Part II to theaters.
