When The Witcher first premiered on Netflix in 2019, critics and audiences were calling it the next Game of Thrones, a prestige fantasy epic with a charismatic lead and a rich mythological world to explore. But as the series went on, the writing went off the rails, and Geralt (Henry Cavill) was gradually pushed to the sidelines of his own show. Cavill eventually walked away from the role, and with him went most of the goodwill.
