A recent news story revealed how close Quentin Tarantino actually was to commencing production on his 10th movie. Tarantino has long maintained that he will retire from filmmaking after directing his 10th feature, because he’s certain directors lose their mojo as they get older, and he’s deeply concerned about leaving behind an impeccable legacy. A few years ago, it was reported that his final film would be titled The Movie Critic, but the project fell apart. A more recent report revealed that Tarantino’s longtime cinematographer, Robert Richardson, dropped out of working with this year’s blockbuster Michael Jackson biopic in order to reunite with Tarantino. Richardson confirmed that Tarantino is now working on a different final film entirely and said that the filmmaker is headed in a “fresh” direction.
