The Grinch is making a massive comeback this year, and Jim Carrey might not be far behind. The beloved Dr. Seuss character returns in a brand-new 3D platforming adventure game alongside a buzzy live-action sequel update.

Outright Games and Dr. Seuss Enterprises have unveiled The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas. The festive 3D platformer arrives on September 18, 2026, for multiple platforms. Specifically, players can grab it on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Following his famous change of heart, the Grinch now wants to prove himself to Who-ville. As a result, he teams up with his loyal companion Max for a cheerful quest. Together, they set out to build the greatest Christmas tree the town has ever witnessed.
Additionally, the adventure takes players through vibrant snowy worlds brimming with holiday charm. Key locations include the Grinch’s Cave, Mt. Crumpit, and the bustling streets of Who-ville. Furthermore, players collect ornaments, discover hidden paths, and face festive platforming challenges along the journey.
Notably, local co-op mode allows two players to team up as the Grinch and Max. Together, they outsmart enemies and solve environmental puzzles throughout each level. Moreover, accessible gameplay mechanics make the title suitable for players of all ages.
Robin Flodin, CEO of Outright Games Group, expressed enthusiasm for the sequel. “We’re thrilled to bring the Grinch back for a brand-new adventure,” Flodin stated. “The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas builds on everything fans loved about the first game” (via Outright Games).
He further highlighted the game’s expanded scope and family appeal. “It’s a joyful experience designed to bring families together and celebrate the spirit of Christmas,” Flodin added.
Meanwhile, the Grinch is also heading back to theaters in live-action form. Jim Carrey is reportedly in talks for How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2. Ron Howard is said to return to direct the sequel. In addition, writers Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, and David Mandel are penning the script for the film. However, no release date for the live-action sequel has been announced at this time.
