Tom Holland To Lace up His Dancing Shoes After The Odyssey & Spider-Man 4

Tom Holland has revealed what movie he will work on after he finishes the press tours for The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Holland has been having a very active 2026, starring in some of the biggest movies of the year. Now, he is set to take on a project that promises to be both a fresh challenge and a natural fit for his talents.

Tom Holland shares tap dancing updates on his Fred Astaire biopic

Holland has finally given an update on his Fred Astaire biopic movie. He made an appearance on Good Morning America to promote Spider-Man 4. Interviewer George Stephanopoulos noted that Holland had a “huge year both personally and professionally,” then congratulated him and asked what he hoped the future would hold. “Just more challenges,” the actor, who turned 30 this June, said in response. “I now feel like I’m starting this chapter where I can’t quite get away with being a teenager anymore.”

The MCU star continued, “For me, what I love about my job is the challenges. We have Fred Astaire next, [which] is what we’re planning on doing. And as soon as I finish with these tours, I’m diving back into the dance studio.” He added that he did his “first few rehearsals recently” and recalled that it filled him with both “excitement and absolute dread.” Holland elaborated, “Because I’ve got so much work to do to try and do Fred proud.”

When Stephanopoulos asked him to clarify this, Holland revealed that he has a “desire” not to use any doubles and do all the dancing himself. He also revealed that he wants to shoot the dance scenes “in one shot – how [Astaire] would have done it.”

Holland originally confirmed his involvement in Sony’s Fred Astaire biopic back in 2021. Paul King is directing the movie about the iconic dancer, actor, and choreographer, while Steven Levenson is writing the screenplay.

Notably, Holland is a dancer trained in Ballet, tap dancing, and acrobatics (via The Guardian). The Fred Astaire movie doesn’t have a release date, but production can begin in January 2027.
