The left-wing terrorist who used an incendiary device outside the New York City federal building, home of the FBI New York field office and New York immigration court, this morning had a history of anti-ICE activity, law enforcement said.
The FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is now investigating the attempted terrorist attack.
The man was arrested at the scene on Monday morning.
Via Fox:
ABC 7 further confirms that the suspect had a “history of anti-ICE (ICE) activity,” according to the FBI. Additional footage of the suspect igniting the incendiary device shows him dumping a bucket containing flammable liquid and other objects on the north side of the building before setting it ablaze and running away.
Local police reportedly said he is a known anti-ICE agitator.
WATCH:
A collection of weapons was discovered in the man’s belongings, along with a sign that read “ICE off our streets.” Officers were seen searching through his cart and retrieving a knife, hammer, and what are reportedly pellet guns.
More from ABC:
“This morning an individual deployed an incendiary device outside of 26 Federal Plaza in New York. The individual is in custody and two minor injuries reported thus far. FBI JTTF is investigating the incident,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement.

Anti-ICE Mayor Zohran Mamdani notably did not condemn the dangerous anti-ICE ideology he promotes. “What occurred outside 26 Federal Plaza this morning was deeply disturbing. I’m relieved no one was seriously injured and that a suspect is in custody,” he said.
“My team is in touch with the NYPD and we will support the federal investigation. Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city — and hold accountable any who threaten that.”
