Wayne Rooney’s ‘glow-up’ stuns World Cup viewers after cutting out booze

Wayne Rooney once joked that he’s been cruelly compared to Shrek.

But the former footballer is having the last laugh now after undergoing a surprising glow-up, much to the delight of his fans who have noticed his TV transformation.

Former England captain Rooney, 40, is currently appearing as a pundit on the BBC for the World Cup, where he caught the attention of viewers during England’s 2-1 win against DR Congo on Wednesday.

Rooney has been open on undergoing two £30,000 hair transplants, admitting he ‘went bald’ at the age of 25.

Now he’s been sporting a much thicker head of hair, as well as a ‘younger’ look, fans have claimed.

This is all due to a change in Rooney’s eating and drinking habits, the Daily Mail reports.

He’s now enjoying a Macro diet; a nutritional approach that tracks your daily intake of the three essential macronutrients — proteins, fats, and carbohydrates — rather than just counting calories.

As well as the diet, Rooney has reportedly decided to consult a stylist to overhaul his wardrobe as he appears on our screens this summer.

‘Wayne is not a fashionista like his wife. He grew up wearing tracksuits and still loves to wear them today but that isn’t possible on television. So with a little bit of help he has spruced his clothes up,’ a source told the publication.

‘He even has a new-found love for fashion, and he was even teased by Gabby Logan recently when he commented on how much he loved US manager Mauricio Pochettino’s clothes and wanted to know where he had got them from.’

Fans couldn’t help but remark o his new look, with cocoa_london20 writing on Instagram: ‘Saw Rooney at last World Cup game review part and looked a lot healthier and younger than previous years.’

Rebecca_barnes_forbes added: ‘You have lost so much weight Wayne. You look amazing.’ While connorfarwell wrote: ‘Looking great Wayne!’

It’s also claimed that Wayne has significantly cut down on drinking, after admitting last year that he would be ‘dead’ without help from his wife Coleen to manage his problems.

‘Wayne has always been self-deprecating about his hair, he didn’t have much even when he was a teenager,’ a source added.

‘At the forefront of Coleen’s mind is Wayne’s wellbeing knows he has had a habit of binge drinking in the past.

‘But that cycle has stopped. Wayne has cut down on his drinking and the results are incredible.’
