The original show is expected to leave Netflix around the 10th anniversary of its revival show. The streaming service has been home to the 2000s series for over a decade, but Netflix subscribers interested in watching or revisiting the show after next month will have to go to another platform. It will likely be added to HBO Max’s library.

Gilmore Girls ended after Season 7 in 2007. Variety reported that financial issues played a key role in the decision, as scheduling conflicts and salary negotiations with cast members stalled. Additionally, earlier internal reactions to the fall pilots were also attributed to having influenced the cancellation. In 2016, however, the revival series materialized, bringing back many characters from the original show.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life received just one season. Lauren Graham revealed that they were never approached for another installment. She also shared that they are unsure whether continuing the story would be the right move.

“I don’t know if there is a need to do more. I would never want it to feel like we overstayed our welcome… There’s probably a way to keep these characters alive, but I don’t know if that’s the best thing for them,” she said at a Deadline panel.
