There’s nothing quite like sitting on in front of the telly on a Saturday night with a cuppa and a new episode of Casualty.

The long-running BBC One medical drama has been a staple of weekend viewing for almost 40 years and thus will celebrate its milestone anniversary later this year.

The latest boxset – the Lethal Legacy saga – has proven quite eventful following the arrival of Jack Bard (Mark Womack), who Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) suspects is abusing his soldiers, particularly Rory Dickson (Gwïon Morris Jones).

And it’s not just been Flynn’s storyline that has had fans talking, with Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) facing consequences after a secret affair with Matty Linlaker (Aron Julius), who covered for her when she unknowingly administered an overdose to a child while under the influence of drugs.

Dylan Keogh’s (William Beck) decision to report Stevie and Matty’s fling to Clinical Lead Flynn backfired dramatically, with the long-time Casualty favourite facing backlash from both characters over him going behind their back.

The stressful situation led to alcoholic Dylan relapsing as the credits rolled on last week’s offering of the beloved show.

If you’re eager to see what happens next then I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news for you.

Is Casualty on tonight and when is it back?

Casualty is not on Saturday July 4.

Instead, coverage of Wimbledon plus Fifa World Cup will air on BBC One for much of the evening, with a small break between the sports for the news and the weather.

Casualty will return to BBC One next week, Saturday, July 11 at the later time of 8:50pm. You can also stream from 6am on the day in question.

And with so many questions left hanging at the end of the latest Lethal Legacy episode, fans are no doubt looking forward to what happens next.

What happens next in Casualty: Lethal Legacy?

The aftermath of Dylan’s relapse will be at the centre of next week’s episode, with Matty set to confront his dad on what he witnessed following the keynote speech.

And with only three episodes left of Lethal Legacy, there’s a lot of story still left to come. For one, fans are also no doubt looking forward to finding out if Colonel Bard will get his comeuppance.

After being discharged last week, Rory planned to report Bard but his fellow soldier and best friend Kev died. Rory broke down in Flynn’s arms and, with the army private seemingly not reporting Bard, Flynn opted to do so himself.

Meanwhile, the Wyvern Hill saga continues, with Jodie Whyte (Anna Cell)determined to expose those responsible – and a recent episode has seen her gather the evidence she needs.

And with fans convinced that romance is blossoming between Jan Jennings (Di Botcher) and Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill), we’ll just have to wait and see what transpires when Casualty returns to screens next week.

Casualty returns Saturday July 11 on BBC One or stream from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
