When Steven Spielberg & Peter Jackson’s Tintin Sequel Takes Place Unveiled

Peter Jackson has finally shared a major update about the story timeline of The Adventures of Tintin’s sequel. The filmmaker recently confirmed that the upcoming sequel will connect directly to the ending of the first movie. He also revealed that active work on the screenplay is currently underway.

Peter Jackson has shared a major update on the long-awaited sequel to The Adventures of Tintin. He confirmed that the story will begin directly after the ending of the first movie. Speaking during interviews at the Cannes Film Festival, Jackson revealed that development on the sequel is actively moving forward. The screenplay is currently being written, with Fran Walsh involved in the project.

Discussing the status of the script during an interview with IndieWire, Jackson explained, “Literally, I’m in the hotel room down the road writing the script and sending pages to New Zealand.” He added, “I haven’t written anything in the last two days because I’ve been busy. But tomorrow I’ll get back to the draft and do some more pages.”

Jackson also revealed that the screenplay will eventually be sent to Steven Spielberg for feedback once the draft is completed. He said, “Fran [Walsh] and I are writing the script. And we’ll get a draft done, which we’ll send to Steven.” The filmmaker further added, “I think he’ll have notes for sure, but we’ll go backwards and forwards until we have a script that we like. At that point we’ll let everyone know what the books are.”

Although the director declined to reveal which The Adventures of Tintin stories are being adapted, he did confirm where the sequel begins in relation to the original film. “All I’ll say now is that it begins — it’s not the way that it carries on — but it begins exactly where the last film ends,” he stated. 

Previously, Jackson emphasized that the sequel remains an active production. The director described the movie as “an active real thing.”
