Marshals Season 1 finale pays tribute to Leonard ‘Lenny’ E. Hancock Jr.

Marshals Season 1, Episode 13 added a card before the credits, that read, “In Loving Memory of Leonard “Lenny” E. Hancock Jr.” Hancock was the prop master of Marshals, and has also worked on shows like CSI: New York and S.W.A.T. He passed away after a car accident in Arizona. CBS also honored Hancock through a “Making of Marshals: Power of Props” video. “One of the things that I care about a lot when I do a show is that it’s really accurate, like on this show, the police vest they wear, that is what the Marshals wear,” Hancock revealed.

He added, “Cal and Kayce being ex-SEALs, I used the drag bags that they would have used at that time, little things that people at home who know will pick up on.” The prop master continued, “Cal, being that he was in the dirt a long time, he loves his tan, his coyote, so all of his stuff is coyote.” Hancock further explained, “Belle is a cowgirl, so we put her in green. She’s been on a horse her entire life.”

He also talked about Andrea, who is from DC. “So she came out of the metro area, and they generally wear all black,” Hancock said. The prop master shared that this makes it easy for viewers “to tell who’s who.” As such, it gives characters “their own individual backstory without actually telling anybody the backstory.” Additionally, he showed his “prop house on wheels.” Hancock shared, “It’s a 48 foot trailer of dreams, and hopefully you have what they dreamed of.”
